Tekken 6 ( PS3) Review

Submitted on 2009/12/11 No Comment

The first release of Tekken 6 may have glitches that are why Namco Bandai released a patch in order to fix some problems arising from the online game part. Because of the patch, gamers won’t be complaining on how difficult the game is to play! It is actually playable now as the bugs from the originally released Tekken 6 were fixed.

Tekken 6

Matchmaking for the online Tekken 6 game was a bit off. Continuous claims on problems regarding the four-bar connection being graded on five-bar scale seems to be the hot topic. Moves become shaky and frame rate drops which resulted also to lagged inputs. This primarily got the whole Tekken addict community to be furious and dismayed.

Namco Bandai’s quick response to the gamers’ concerns is by quickly making a patch that can correct the errors in the Tekken 6 online game mode. Flawless matches on four- or five-bar connection was noticed and made it certainly playable. With the enhanced version, you can now dodge into the foreground or background by sidestepping as a response rather than anticipating for the opponents’ next move. Now, combos which need lots of precision in timing that gets hard through laggy statuses became reachable after the patch has been released. The lag will be felt on every input when the connection falls around the one- to three-bar connection. In these conditions, matches are serviceable but timing can be affected by the latency of your connection.

Even if changes were implemented using the patch, an improved ranked matchmaking is needed. There are times that the game pairs up newcomers even if they don’t even have a good win-to-loss rating to those which has high win-ratios – making an imbalanced match and in effect, making it an impossible challenge for any amateur player out there. Though filtering matches by rank is allowed, the game frequently sets the amateur ones to the veterans. What’s highly suggested is that instead of the game automatically matching the players to each other, give the option to the players as to whom they want to battle with which comes in a detailed list of the player’s rank and connection.

The patch appeared came in at the right time. Now we are assured that the Tekken community’s future shines bright.
